CHILDREN

  • There are many childhood conditions that can benefit enormously from holistic therapy, massage and the gentle essential oil therapy. For any little being, we bring a nurturing and protected environment which is also a wonderful support for children that may be feeling a little anxious.

    Due to the purity and volatility of essential oils and the delicate nature and sensitivity of a child’s skin, use of oils with children needs to be approached with awareness, knowledge and care. Gentle oils such as sweet orange is perfect to aid in digestive disorders in children. Pure organic high quality base oils such as jojoba or sweet almond is a very effective remedy to relieve discomfort from eczema, and delicate hydrosol sprays can be used to relieve itching.

  • Some of the many conditions that can be supported by holistic therapy, massage and clinical aromatherapy includes:

    Allergies (hay fever, skin sensitivities)

    Anxiety, stress and worry

    Asthma

    Bedwetting

    Chickenpox

    Coughs, colds, sore throats

    Digestive disorders (nausea, reflux, constipation, flatulence)

    Emotional wellbeing

    General aches and pains (including growing pains)

    Hyperactivity disorders

    Insomnia or sleep difficulties

    Respiratory issues (croup, asthma, dyspnoea)

    Teething

  • Depending on the age of the child will very much determine the basis of the treatment. I request that any child under 16 years of age is accompanied by their parent or another family member who is also aware of the child's current health. Prior to any treatment I would consult with the parent(s) via telephone to understand the child's medical history and to discuss any sensitive issues that may cause concern for the child. 

    I offer home visits for children, as sometimes the prospect of a clinic environment may be a little daunting. It is really important that a child feels very comfortable and at ease within their surroundings, and my number one priority is to create a really safe, nurturing and trusted environment.

    Typically a treatment will be much shorter for children, again depending on the requirements a session usually last between 30-45 minutes. Massage may be used, for example if there is a digestive complaint then gentle massage to the abdomen, lower back and feet will prove beneficial. If we are looking at a remedy to support something more physiological or emotional, then massage of the upper back, hands and feet will be more suitable to aid absorption of the oils into the body. 

    When using essential oils, I will work with babies as young as 6 months of age.
